The Ministry of Education only provides ranking for secondary schools. While it is felt that the same arguments for ranking secondary schools can be applied for primary schools, there are many more primary schools compared to secondary schools, and it would be counter-productive if parents choose to forego the convenience of neighbourhood schools and drive up demand for the official "good" schools.

Nonetheless, Kiasuparents.com feels that parents should be allowed to make informed choices based on facts. The dearth of reliable information on how "good" primary schools are is troubling and non-transparent. As such we have collated a list of best performing primary schools based on published annual PSLE results since 2000. This list is by no means an official "ranking" of primary schools - it is only an indicator of the consistency of schools in academic excellence.

While the quality of a school is not solely dependent on academic excellence, it is a very good indicator of the dedication of its staff and the quality of its students. Kiasuparents.com will continuously strive to update and tag its primary school database with details of the character-building, athletic and aesthetic accomplishments of each primary school to allow parents to pin-point the most suitable school for their pre-school children. We welcome feedback on what parents actually think about the schools.

The following pages comprise records of how Primary schools generally fared in PSLE over the past 7 years. Readers should treat this as an indicator of academic consistency, and not as a definitive ranking of how "good" the school is.

Clan membership does not

Clan membership does not guarantee the clan would issue recommendation letters. Just prior to Phase 2B, the schools will discuss with the clan to work out the number of recommendation letters to be issued, and the clan is said to issue them according to the number of years of membership.

joining HKHK requires 2 existing members's recommendation.

P1 registration for NanChiau Pri

Those aiming for P2C (live w/in 1 km), the balloting chance is very slim. 30-40% only from past stats! As if only 1 Pri school in Seng Kang.

To increase chance, register with Hokkien clan/association for $500 and you will be in P2B. Provided birth cert reflects that dialect group. Do chk with the school for details

Another choice of school in the neighborhd is Compassvale Pri, though the new school North Vista is gaining popularity in terms of learn-thru-play concept, non-peak timing (schooling from 8am - 2pm) etc. New school will invest more to build up portfolio ;p

I always thought that there

I always thought that there is no difference if you were to rent a place near the school. I heard of other parents who did this to get into the preferred school. What's the difference in the way the school determine whether you are the owner or a tenant of the address?

i'm a new parent .my kid is in k1 now.,so she will be in P1 on 2012.so should i register for my kid on 2011 itself?we r staying near boon keng..is there any good school near my area.which school can i select for registration?

i like to send my kid to chij toa payoh,so by phase 2c,it is impossible to get admission in CHIJ toa payoh..

if we rent a house near the school within 1km,is it possible to get place in chij toapayoh.is it important to stay in that rented house thruout her primary levels... or can we again shft to boonkeng after getting admission in chij toapayoh...becoz ,i have 2 girls,younger one is 2yr old now....

so if elder one get a chance to study in chij toapayoh,the younger one will definitely get place for her P1.becoz,i'm hindu,is it possible to do PV in CHIJ toapayoh,to get enter for phase 2b. ......thanks for ur opinion...

If you purchase the property today, you will only complete round about the same time as the expiry of the tenancy, so the point is moot because there is no point chasing him out earlier. If you move into the property in April and you have ownership papers, I wouldn't have thought the school would challenge you on address. BUT, if you are renting a place that is near a school and use the rental address as the registration address, then that's a different story.

In any case, the tenant cannot ask for an exorbitant sum, any terms for breaking the tenancy should have been spelt out clearly already in good tenancy agreements.
