The March Holidays are just around the corner. What have you planned for your children this time? No ideas? Fret not, because here are 5 activities you can enjoy with them!

(1) Sentosa Kidz Flea

Develop your children’s entrepreneurial skills and watch them be bosses for a day! From 12 March 2016 to 19 March 2016, the kids will be setting up their flea stalls at Merlion Plaza from 3pm to 8pm.

Stall rental packages start from $28 per weekday and your children can sell their own handcrafted or pre-loved items, learn to deal with customers and manage their own businesses!

They will be encouraged to donate their earnings to the designated charity of the event this year, Autism Association (Singapore). Not only do they take home the makings of an entrepreneur, they will also learn the values of empathy and compassion through this event!

(2) The Land Before Time

Jurong West Public Library will be celebrating its 20th Anniversary with a series of “Prehistorically” fun activities on 12, 15 and 19 March 2016.

You know what is the best thing about this fun-filled event? THERE IS NO AGE LIMIT!  So bring your grouchy teenagers along and snap selfies with Baby T, their resident dinosaur!

Activities include story-telling (of course), creating their very own mammoths, dinosaur origami with increasing difficulty levels, man-made prehistoric ornaments and they will even get to bring home their very own hatchling dinosaur too!

(3) Snoopy and Charlie Brown 3D Model Making Workshop

Do your children like Snoopy? If they do, join in the fun at the Singapore Philatelic Museum to learn about 3D modeling concepts and watch up-close on how 3D printing is done! You will also get to create your very own 3D Peanuts comic character under the watchful eyes of Jose Maya, a professional 3D artist and modeler.

Daddy and Mummy, rejoice, because, this one-day (12 March 2016) workshop is open to adults too! Children above 10 will be allowed to register for this workshop. It is $45 per person and each session permits a minimum of 6 and maximum of 15 people. Don’t want to pay $45 for the workshop? No worries! The Snoopy, Charlie Brown & the Peanuts Gang exhibition is totally FREE for Singaporeans and Permanent Residents. So go on an adventure and discover the works of Charles Schulz!

(4) Picnic by the Waterfront

From 4 March 2016 to 27 March 2016, Marina Bay Waterfront is holding Asia’s Leading Sustainable Light Art Festival from 7.30pm to 11pm daily. Grab takeaways from your family’s favourite fast food restaurant and sit by the river to enjoy the magnificent view. Check out the map here to find a good spot for a nice little family dinner picnic.

There will be over 20 art installations lighting up the Marina Bay waterfront. After dinner beside the river, take a slow stroll along the waterfront and snap away! Tag your photos on Instagram with #ilightmarinabay, and who knows, the official iLight website may feature your master shot!

(5) Coney Island Adventure

Coney Island is home to mangrove, grasslands, casuarina woodlands and coastal forests. Spot a wide variety of flora and fauna which are presumably critically endangered (According to the NParks website). There are 80 species of birds, so bring your binoculars along if you and your little ones want to bird watch!

Note: There is a lone cow which made Coney Island its home. You are advised not to disturb, approach or try taking close-up photos of it. SO, NO SELFIES WITH THE COW, PLEASE!

Coney Island Park is located at Punggol. No car? No problem! From Punggol interchange, take bus 84 to Punggol Point Park/Punggol Settlement. Walk about 500m east along the Punggol Promenade Nature Walk to get to Coney Island West Entrance.

The park is open from 7am to 7pm (with free access) and the gate closes at 7pm.

Some tips before you make your way to the park:

• The park may be unsuitable for younger children as the terrain has some rugged parts.
• There is no piped water or electricity there, so be sure to bring your own snacks and drinks. Remind your children to dispose their rubbish properly. If there are no bins, bring the trash with you until you see one.
• There is no lighting in the park, so do leave the area by 7pm.
• The designated trails allows you to appreciate some animals from afar. If there happens to be long-tailed macaques, DO NOT FEED THEM and KEEP A SAFE DISTANCE from them.
• Most importantly, LEAVE ONLY FOOTPRINTS.

Besides Coney Island, there are other National Parks which are suitable for both young and older children. The official NParks website has many other information available for you to plan an outing with your children. And the best part, IT IS FREE!
